At Adel's, on a creek off of the Pomeroon River, where we were the only 2 guests staying at this odd little place. Long story... Highlight: we had 2 tarantulas living with us in our bedroom. Yes, and they were huge & creepy! It also relied on electricity from wind & solar panels. There was also a generator, which was used at times. When you are out of the city in Guyana, you are truly out of the city, and quite, quite removed. We stayed in an area that is mainly Amerindian. In the hammocks, this is how we spent most of the 2 days...
Have I mentioned that this is a country with pirates. On the Pomeroon, I could totally imagine pirates sailing or speeding up and down the river. In some ways it felt like going back in time.
